What Is Safe to Assume?

Holiday Mathis on

On this day of dynamic cosmic weather, including a difficult square of Venus and Jupiter, the cosmic tides warn against overgiving. Problems abound, but don't rush in with everything you think will help. Instead, take the time to find out what is really needed. The only assumption that is safe to go in with is the assumption that you don't yet know the answers.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Forgiveness isn't always an act of sainthood. Sometimes it's just emotional pragmatism. Forgiveness can be the easy route to freedom. It lets you move on, and moving on makes life easier. Do it for yourself.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). People trust you, and you'll get the evidence of it in their requests and expectations. It doesn't mean you have to agree to whatever they want. The key to maintaining trust is to only agree to what you are excited to deliver.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Your social grace is innate. Kindness and diplomacy are your default settings. Turn more of this inward. You keep forgetting that self-kindness is as important, if not more important. Everything starts with your own well-being.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Don't rush to know everything. This is not a test you need to cram for. Relax and let the scene develop. Observe and absorb it slowly -- the information will mean more, and you'll be able to apply it and own it.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Sometimes relationships evolve unevenly. One person may be changing faster than the other. Don't forget that everything can be negotiated. Love is never fixed. It's a constantly adapting state.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). To whatever degree the obstacle in your path is self-created, you will disassemble it. And even if you had nothing to do with how this obstacle came to be, you will find a way around it by thinking differently.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Awareness is power. If you know what the competition and opposition are doing, you can strategize better. Understanding what's working against you will help you make smarter choices. This also applies to inner sabotage.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You're excellent at seeing beneath the surface, but today your gift is reading the above-the-surface signs, like tone, timing and subtext in ordinary exchanges. You'll interpret correctly and use the knowledge to guide delicate dynamics.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Today highlights your adaptability. Being fluid is a kind of gift. Everyone has different sides. Personalities are dynamic. You're serving the context, the mood, and the wants and goals of everyone in the room. That's not hypocrisy -- it's humanity.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Ambition is healthy; anxiety is not. The trick is to keep the first without feeding the second. You'll make progress by pacing yourself and celebrating small wins. Slow and steady wins the race.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You're ready to test your independence. You want to prove to yourself what you can handle solo, and life will respect that. You won't face much interference. People may intuitively step back and give you space to explore your own power.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Wishes and fantasies sometimes seem indulgent and like a distraction from work. But a little daydreaming becomes practical when it restores your hope and renews your courage. Today, your imagination is the current that carries you, and you're wise to follow it.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 2). Welcome to your Year of Public Recognition for Private Perseverance. You'll finally close a chapter that's been stealing your focus and energy. What opens next is vivid, creative and prosperous. More highlights: You'll connect with allies who amplify your gifts. You'll feel joy picking up new skills and meeting fresh faces. You'll go somewhere exotic to do ordinary but very relaxing things. Taurus and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 1, 24, 30 and 12.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Born on this day in 1755, the French Queen Marie Antoinette is one of history's most enduring figures. Her fashion, style, and patronage of the arts were legendary, yet overshadowed by mythic contradictions and a life that became a mirror for the dreams and resentments of an age. Scorpios are associated with hidden power, secrets and the cycles of death and rebirth. Her arc -- from princess to queen to prisoner -- echoes those themes.
