Charlie Sheen reaches out to Jon Cryer to 'DM me' after Netflix doc
Published in Entertainment News
Charlie Sheen made a public plea for his former “Two and a Half men” co-star Jon Cryer to “DM me your new number” after the “really … compassionate” way he spoke in Netflix’s new documentary about the formerly troubled actor.
Sheen, who has been sober for eight years, told People that the “Pretty in Pink” star, both 60, was “the only person I didn’t call personally to participate” in “aka Charlie Sheen,” hitting the streamer Sept. 10 — the day after his memoir, “The Book of Sheen,” hits shelves.
“And the only reason I didn’t call him was because I didn’t have the right number for him. But when I saw everything that Jon spoke about, so honestly and very compassionately, I wrote to him and I said, ‘Hey, thank you for your contributions, and I’m sorry we didn’t connect personally. I hope to see you around the campus,'” said the four-time Emmy nominee.
The “super responsible” Cryer’s radio silence left Sheen thinking he “wrote to the wrong number.
“So if you’re reading this, Jon, DM me your new number!” continued Sheen, who was axed from the hit Chuck Lorre sitcom after his 2011 substance abuse suspended production.
Sheen said he “can’t debate anything” Cryer said in the documentary and “it was really cool to hear from his perspective” as he “was in the line of fire with all that stupid s–t going on, and it was affecting him and his family and his career and all that.”
He also credited Cryer’s “really insightful” remarks, saying he “nailed” the idea that Sheen “doesn’t believe he deserves the things he has, or that it was [what] he earned.”
“I’m so glad he opened that door, because it gave me a chance to really start thinking about that,” said Sheen. “That was really insightful of Jon, really, and compassionate.”
